Finescale Railroader Magazine and the Annuals that succeeded presented the finest articles featuring model building, photography, and history. These excellent publications are no longer in print.

However, digital back issues in PDF format are available from Westlake Publishing, and there is an active forum dedicated to serious, finescale model building. A visit is well worth the time if you have any interest in outstanding model railroading.
